DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) formerly CRB

All newly registered IMASA Clubs please make sure you supply an upto date Enhanced DBS check Certificate before your next Club Registration - for each Instructor that teaches' the young or vulnerable.

New changes to Enhanced DBS and who needs them, please read our CRB Handi-Guide within our Documents Section.

Please remember your Enhanced DBS Certificate is only valid for the employment stated on the Certificate

If you need any further info please ask - Thank you for your co-operation.

The law changed in October 2009 - absolutely everyone who has contact/Instructs students under the age of 16 or vulnerable adults are required by law to have an enhanced disclosure check.  In July 2010, organisations who have anything to do with the process of permitting people to have contact with children and vulnerable adults will be legally bound to ensure you have had this check.

This is a good thing - anything which protects the young and vulnerable is a positive step in the right direction.

Again, we have sourced the most convenient way possible for Instructors to be able to acquire an enhanced DBS Certificate.

Most Councils ask that you have an enhanced DBS check every 3 years.

Most Associations state you must take a new DBS check through them, at this time we cannot find any proof to back this up, if you already have an Enhanced DBS check we are happy to file a copy for our records - Please be aware DBS Checks for Martial Arts must state Martial Arts on the Certificate.

DBS - Enhanced Disclosure for Club Volunteers/Un-Paid Instructors £24.00 this includes postal costs, returning documents etc.

 Volunteer

A person who is engaged in any activity which involves spending time, unpaid (except for traveling and other approved out-of-pocket expenses), doing something which aims to benefit someone (individuals or groups) other than or in addition to close relatives?

If a club is run solely for the benefit of its members, run on a voluntary basis, except approved expenses then you would be entitled to the reduced DBS admin costs, please be aware if any Association charges at the lower rate they are assuming you are an Un-Paid Volunteer, if you apply to IMASA for the lower cost £24.00 DBS - IMASA believes you to be an un-paid Volunteer, if later it was found to be a paid position you may have additional charges clawed back.

Paid Instructors Enhanced DBS = £68.00 by posted cheque.

Volunteer Instructors Enhanced DBS = £24.00 by posted cheque.
